A boat restoration is typically a unique process and we take on boats of a variety of ages, conditions and makes. We specialize in older wooden boats, and work with mainly boats from manufacturers like Chris Craft, Garwood, Century, Hacker, and Riva, but we are willing to take on projects with any similar models. Whether a boat has been left exposed to the elements for many years, has damage to key mechanical components, needs to be reupholstered and/or has missing, broken or rotten wood, in most cases we can take on the project and restore the boat to its former glory.
What is involved in boat restoration?
Since restoration projects are unique, the first step is to assess the needs of the particular vessel and determine the appropriate course of action. In most cases, if any wood needs to be replaced then we take on the task of crafting new pieces to match the existing structure and installing them to blend seamlessly. Next, the boat is stripped of any former finishes, paint, varnish and debris and readied for new finishing. We meticulously apply new finishes, and the professionalism of the finish makes all the difference. From there, any particulars like upholstery and mechanical items are repaired or replaced.
